Term 2 Lagniappe Programs Begin Nov. 1

Lagniappe is a collection of after-school fine arts and interdisciplinary classes intended to broaden the student’s education experience. Classes meet at Coast Episcopal School on a weekly basis.

The second term of this year’s Lagniappe program will begin on November 1 with an array of interesting options, including:

Christmas Choir with Mrs. Smith | Grades K-6th
Mondays for 3 weeks starting Nov. 1, with a performance on Friday evening, Dec. 3, at Christmas in the Pass
Outdoor Christmas caroling at Christmas in the Pass. Come and make new friends and memories!
Dates: Nov. 1, Nov. 8, Nov. 15; Performance on Dec. 3 in the evening
Time: 3:15 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Location: Chapel
Minimum enrollment: None Cost: $40 + $20 for t-shirt

Mind, Body, Spirit Self Defense with John Miller of Full Circle Martial Arts and Yoga | Grades 1st-6th
Mondays for 6 weeks starting Nov. 1
Classes begin and end with meditation, then move to conditioning of the body followed by self-defense drills to include blocking, punching and takedowns. Class will finish with silent meditation and silent prayer.

Sew What Art Studio-Term 2A | Grades 3rd-6th
Wednesdays for 3 weeks starting Nov. 3, with Suzanne Findeisen
Learn to stitch, construct and create with textiles. Participants will learn basic hand-sewing techniques and how to use tools. Threading needles, tying knots, carding thread, stitching and using a pattern are some of the activities covered in class. Projects may include fabric pillows, toys made from felt, stitched art paintings and small functional pieces. Each will be customized according to the student’s skills and abilities. Class size limited to 10.
Dates: Nov. 3, Nov. 10, Nov. 17 (3 weeks)

Min/max enrollment: 6/10 Cost: $75 + $15 supply fee

Sew What Art Studio-Term 2B |Grades 3rd-6th
Wednesdays for 3 weeks starting Dec. 1, with Suzanne Findeisen
Learn to stitch, construct and create with textiles. Participants will learn basic hand-sewing techniques and how to use tools. Threading needles, tying knots, carding thread, stitching and using a pattern are some of the activities covered in class. Projects will include holiday themed plush toys and felt ornaments. Each will be customized according to the student’s skills and abilities. Class size limited to 10.

Tool Time with Mr. McBride | Grades 2nd-6th
Thursdays for 3 weeks starting Dec. 2
Learn to identify and use simple tools, such as the wedge, wheel, pulley and pry bar, while you learn about their history, use and the impact they have on our lives.
Dates: Dec. 2, Dec. 9, Dec. 16 (3 weeks)
Time: After school until 4:30 p.m. Location: Makerspace
Min/max enrollment: 3/10 Cost: $75+ $15 supply fee

CES Kid Fit Games with Coach C | Grades K-6th
Fridays for 4 weeks starting Nov. 5
Participants will enjoy a variety of games and activities that will encourage fitness, development and confidence.
Dates: Nov. 5, Nov. 12, Dec. 3, Dec. 10
Time: 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Location: Outside and the gym
Minimum enrollment: 5 Cost: $90
