Coast Episcopal School and the Gail Keenan Art Center are proud to announce the 2021 Children in the Arts Contest, sponsored by Hancock Whitney. This unique event highlights the talents of fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students in public, private, homeschool and parochial schools along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
For the second year in a row, we will be partnering with the Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs, Miss., to create a virtual Children in the Arts experience, featuring an online exhibition and live online workshop.
This year’s theme is: Walter Inglis Anderson: Space, Form, Color and Shape. The museum’s current exhibition, The South’s Most Elusive Artist, approaches Anderson’s life and art through these concepts. Students and teachers can visit www.walterandersonmuseum.org to see works from The South’s Most Elusive Artist and learn more about the artist.
Students may use any two-dimensional media, and entries may be submitted by a teacher or homeschool parent. Each teacher is limited to five submissions.
Participating students will be invited to a free live Zoom workshop with Tony DiFatta, Director of Education at the Walter Anderson Museum of Art. All supplies needed for the program will be provided to students at no cost and provided for pick-up before the workshop. Participation in the workshop is limited to 50 students.
All work must be submitted electronically on or before October 13, 2021. For additional information and submission guidelines, please click here. To submit entries, please click here: https://forms.gle/UDa9JsuiJPgHFvYT7
